BJP's Local Body Poll Win a Verdict Against Congress: Thakur

Former Industries Minister and BJP MLA Bikram Thakur on Monday asserted that the party's impressive performance in the recent local body elections in Himachal Pradesh signals growing public disillusionment with the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Historic Mandate for BJP

Thanking voters for what he termed a historic mandate, Thakur said the results clearly indicate widespread dissatisfaction with the policies and unfulfilled promises of the state administration. He noted that the BJP secured three out of four municipal corporations up for election — Mandi, Dharamshala, and Solan — and also performed strongly in Zila Parishad, Block Development Committee (BDC), and panchayat polls.

Criticism of Congress Leadership

Thakur criticized the Chief Minister for downplaying the election results, stating, “In a democracy, the people are supreme. Instead of respecting the verdict, the Congress leadership is trying to minimize it.” He added that the massive support for the BJP is a clear verdict against the state government’s governance.

Voter Sentiment

The Jaswan-Pragpur MLA highlighted that the election outcome reflects the public’s anger over unfulfilled promises and poor governance. He emphasized that the BJP's victories across various local bodies demonstrate the electorate's trust in the party's vision and leadership.

Thakur concluded by reiterating that the people have spoken, and the Congress government must take note of the message delivered through the ballot box.
