BJP's R Ashoka slams Karnataka Congress over power tussle

Bharatiya Janata Party leader R Ashoka has launched a sharp critique of the Karnataka Congress, describing the ongoing power tussle within the ruling party as a 'never-ending soap opera'. He urged the Congress leadership to shift its focus from internal squabbles to effective governance.

Ashoka's Remarks on the Power Struggle

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Ashoka said, 'The people of Karnataka did not vote for a 5-year factional wrestling match. They voted for a stable, functioning government.' He emphasized that the constant infighting between the camps of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is detrimental to the state's development.

Call for Governance Over Factionalism

Ashoka further stated that the Congress party's internal conflicts are undermining public trust. 'Instead of engaging in a never-ending soap opera, the Congress should concentrate on delivering on their promises. The state cannot afford a government that is more interested in internal power dynamics than in addressing the needs of its citizens,' he added.

The BJP leader's comments come amid reports of growing tensions between the Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar factions, with both leaders vying for control over key decisions and appointments. Political analysts suggest that the rift could weaken the Congress government's stability in the long run.

Congress Response

In response, Congress spokespersons dismissed Ashoka's allegations, accusing the BJP of attempting to destabilize the government. They maintained that the party is united under the leadership of Siddaramaiah and that any differences are being resolved internally.

However, Ashoka remained unconvinced. 'If the Congress wants to set an example for the nation, they must first set their own house in order. The people of Karnataka deserve better than this endless drama,' he concluded.
