A strange but fun challenge is now picking up attention, and it involves two very different sports coming together. Luke Littler has said yes to a viral idea where he could face Mo Farah in a half marathon. But this is not just about running. The twist is that both of them would need to hit a 501 checkout on a dartboard after every mile.
Challenge Gains Momentum
The idea sounds unusual, but it has already caught the interest of fans and even other athletes. Littler spoke about it after his latest Premier League Darts win in Aberdeen. While he seemed excited, he also admitted he would need to get fitter before taking it on. At the same time, Mo Farah has also shown interest, which makes this challenge feel closer to becoming real.
Littler's Confident Response
Luke Littler gave a very honest and relaxed response when asked about the challenge. He said, “I don’t think Mo Farah could take out 501 personally. So as soon as I am done, nine darter, I am walking my next mile. Yeah, I think we should do it for charity. Obviously let me lose a bit of timber and I’ll be good to go.” His confidence comes from his strength in darts, even though Farah is one of the best long-distance runners in the world. The format would make things interesting. After each mile, both would stop and try to finish a 501 score. That means focus and skill will matter just as much as stamina.
Farah's Positive Reaction
Mo Farah, who is now 43, has also reacted positively. Responding to the idea, he said, “I will let my team get in touch with you! Yeeeezzzzzz!! 501.” That short reply was enough to show he is open to the challenge. Farah has a strong background in running. He won Olympic gold in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games. His personal best in a half marathon is 59 minutes and 22 seconds, which shows how strong he is over long distances.
Littler's Darts Success
On the other side, Littler is enjoying a great season in darts. His recent win in Aberdeen was his fifth Premier League victory this season. That result has pushed him to the top of the standings, and he has already secured his place in the playoffs.
Support from Boxer Dave Allen
The idea for this challenge also got support from boxer Dave Allen. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said he even tried to contact Farah to help make it happen. If the event goes ahead, both players would need to complete 13 successful 501 checkouts during the race. That mix of running and darts could make it one of the most unique sporting events fans have ever seen.
