The 2026 Assam Assembly elections saw intense competition across the state. In West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee faced a tough contest against Suvendu Adhikari in Bhabanipur. Meanwhile, the TVK pushed DMK and AIADMK to the margins in Tamil Nadu, and the BJP aimed to oust Mamata in Bengal while retaining Assam.

BJP's Suruj Dehingia was in a direct contest with Congress's Jnyandip Mohan for the Mahmora constituency. The constituency had a total of 148,694 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly election, comprising 72,805 male voters, 75,889 female voters, and none from the third gender.
