BJP Sets 2027 Poll Agenda in UP: Yogi, Chaudhary Direct Workers on Voter List Drive
BJP's UP Strategy for 2027: Focus on Voter List Revision

In a significant move to consolidate its position for the upcoming state elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party's top leadership in Uttar Pradesh convened a high-level meeting in Lucknow on Sunday. The gathering, aimed at setting the party's roadmap for the 2027 assembly polls, was attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, newly appointed state president Pankaj Chaudhary, and other senior functionaries.

Directives for a Strong Electoral Foundation

The meeting, held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, served as a platform to issue clear instructions to party legislators and grassroots workers. The central message from the leadership was the urgent need for concerted efforts and leading by example. The party brass emphasized that the performance of its Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and the commitment of its workers would be pivotal for success.

A primary focus of the discussion was the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter lists. Leaders instructed members to ensure that all eligible voters are registered without any hassle before the deadline. "Party members must work with utmost sincerity to get the voters' list updated before the deadline," stated state president Pankaj Chaudhary.

Targeted Constituencies and Booth-Level Work

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath provided specific guidance, asking workers to be particularly active in assembly constituencies where preliminary checks had revealed large-scale anomalies and irregularities. He urged members to directly connect with residents and assist them in submitting the necessary forms to booth-level officers.

The leadership identified several key assembly seats requiring special attention, including:

  • Lucknow Cantt
  • Lucknow North
  • Hardoi
  • Milkipur
  • Agra South
  • Lakhimpur

According to party estimates, in these areas, the names of 15-16% of voters are yet to be correctly recorded on the electoral rolls.

A Long-Term Vision for Electoral Dominance

Senior functionaries framed the current voter list revision not just as a routine exercise but as a foundational effort with long-term implications. They asserted that the work put into ensuring a proper SIR would yield positive outcomes for the BJP for the next two decades.

Party workers were given a critical task: to distinguish between fake and genuine voters at the polling booth level and ensure that every legitimate voter finds their name on the final list. This granular, booth-level management is seen as key to building an unbeatable electoral machinery.

The meeting was also addressed by Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, the party's national general secretary Tarun Chugh, and general secretary (UP organisation) Dharampal Singh. The collective presence of the top leadership underscored the importance of this strategic push as the BJP begins its long campaign for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
