Tragedy Strikes BJP Youth Leader on Lucknow-Unnao Highway
A promising young political worker lost his life in a devastating road accident early Monday morning. The crash occurred at the Lala Khera intersection, which marks the border between Lucknow and Unnao districts.
Fatal Collision Involving SUV and Dumper Truck
A speeding dumper truck smashed head-on into an SUV carrying eight people. The impact completely destroyed the smaller vehicle, crushing it into a twisted metal wreck. Local residents and passersby immediately rushed to help the trapped occupants before police could reach the spot.
Rescue teams managed to pull all seven passengers from the mangled remains of the SUV. Four people escaped with minor injuries, but three individuals suffered critical wounds. Emergency services rushed these three severely injured men to the PGI Trauma Centre for urgent medical attention.
Young Leader Declared Dead on Arrival
Doctors at the trauma centre pronounced Happy Rajput dead when he arrived. The 26-year-old served as the zonal general secretary for the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Bichhiya block of Unnao district. By profession, he operated a mobile phone shop.
Two other young men, identified as Anurag Rajput and Satyendra Rajput, remain hospitalized in critical condition. Medical staff are providing intensive treatment as they fight for their lives.
Journey to Political Event Turns Deadly
Happy Rajput was traveling to Lucknow with seven companions for a specific purpose. The group planned to attend a reception ceremony for BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary. Following the political event, they intended to continue their journey to Ayodhya for a religious pilgrimage.
Family Devastated by Double Tragedy
The Rajput household has suffered unimaginable loss in recent years. Happy was the only surviving son of Vijay Rajput and Shanti Rajput. His younger brother, Lucky, succumbed to COVID-19 during the pandemic in 2021.
Compounding the tragedy, the family was actively preparing for Happy's upcoming wedding celebrations. His engagement ceremony was scheduled for February 8, with the wedding planned for April 26. Relatives described the household as filled with joyful anticipation just days before the fatal accident.
"The entire family was ecstatic about the upcoming wedding. Now, there is nothing left," a grieving family member revealed through tears.
Police Investigation Underway
The Asoha Police Station in Unnao district has jurisdiction over the accident site. Officers have impounded the abandoned dumper truck and launched a search operation to locate the driver, who fled immediately after the collision.
Preliminary findings point to reckless driving as the primary cause. "Excessive speed by the truck driver appears to have caused the head-on collision," stated SHO DK Singh of PGI police station. Investigators continue to examine all evidence from the crash scene.
Following completion of a post-mortem examination, police officials handed over Happy Rajput's body to his devastated family members. The community now mourns a young life cut short just as personal and political aspirations were beginning to blossom.
