In a sharp political counterattack, senior leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have strongly condemned the language used by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy against party president K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). They asserted that the people of Telangana are prepared to deliver a decisive lesson to the ruling Congress party whenever the next assembly elections are held in 2028.
Condemnation of CM's Language and Confidence for 2028
Addressing separate press conferences on Thursday, prominent BRS figures including T Harish Rao, V Srinivas Goud, G Jagadish Reddy, KP Vivekanand, and Rasamayi Balakishan took strong exception to the Chief Minister's remarks made during a public meeting. They reacted to CM Reddy's statement that the BRS would become history after the next assembly polls.
"Of the total 29 states in the country, the Congress is in power only in three, and the government is on the edge in Karnataka. In Telangana, people are waiting for the opportunity to teach lessons," declared Harish Rao and Jagadish Reddy. They pointed to the Congress party's recent setback in the panchayat elections in the CM's own assembly constituency of Kodangal as the beginning of his political downfall.
Allegations of Failed Promises and Project Delays
The BRS leaders launched a multi-pronged critique of the Congress government's performance since coming to power. They accused the administration of ascending on the back of false promises and committing gross injustice to Telangana regarding the sensitive Krishna river water share.
Senior leader V Srinivas Goud alleged that when KCR pointed out governmental lapses in the Palamuru lift irrigation project, CM Revanth Reddy resorted to using abusive language against the BRS chief because he could not answer the questions substantively. On the critical issue of Krishna waters, the BRS leaders accused CM Reddy of lying about irrigation project works in the erstwhile districts of Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda.
"The BRS government completed 80% of the SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) works and also some pending irrigation projects such as Kalwakurthy and Nettampadu," Goud stated, contrasting it with the current administration's pace.
Personal Jibes and Policy Reversals
The press conferences also featured personal comparisons and allegations of hypocrisy. Goud drew a contrast in political discourse, mentioning that when parliamentarians like the late Jaipal Reddy spoke in sophisticated English, people would look up dictionaries to appreciate his language. "Now, they have to search the dictionary for the 'words' and language used by Revanth for the wrong reasons," he quipped.
Harish Rao passionately defended KCR's legacy, calling him the warrior who brought Telangana into existence and stating there is no Telangana without KCR. He also highlighted a policy reversal, alleging that when KCR proposed the Hyderabad Pharma City, Revanth Reddy dismissed it as a real estate business. "Now, the same CM is converting land into a real estate business in the name of Future City," Harish Rao claimed.
Concluding their allegations, the BRS leaders also raised a welfare issue, demanding that the government release pending mess and cosmetic charges for residential school students, who they said have not received these funds for the past few months.
