A minor road incident escalated into a significant traffic disruption at Vallam Junction in Perumbavoor on Friday night when a KSRTC bus driver abandoned his vehicle at the busy intersection, blocking traffic for nearly 15 minutes.
The incident occurred around 7:30 pm when a car, reportedly heading towards Cochin International Airport, scraped against a KSRTC bus travelling from Palakkad to Kattapana and fled without stopping. In response, the bus driver halted the vehicle at the junction and walked away from the scene, according to Perumbavoor police.
Locals and police who examined the bus found no visible damage. Nevertheless, the abandoned vehicle blocked the busy junction, causing significant traffic congestion and leaving stranded passengers and motorists frustrated. The situation was eventually resolved when the driver of another KSRTC bus moved the vehicle to the roadside, restoring traffic flow.
The errant driver later claimed he had left to photograph the car that had scraped his bus. Traders and residents have filed a complaint with KSRTC officials, demanding action against the driver. Officials at Perumbavoor depot, however, said they were unaware of the incident, stating that the bus belonged to a different depot.
