Buxar Row: RJD MP Questions BJP's Anti-Corruption Drive After Hospital Incident
Buxar: RJD MP Targets BJP MLA Over Corruption Action

In a sharp political attack, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Member of Parliament from Buxar, Sudhakar Singh, on Friday challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stated commitment to fighting corruption. His comments were directed at BJP legislator Anand Mishra, following a recent controversy at a government hospital.

MP Questions Hollow Anti-Corruption Stance

Speaking to journalists during the inauguration of a sports competition in Buxar district, Singh seized the opportunity to critique the ruling party. He argued that taking concrete action against individuals caught engaging in wrongdoing is both a moral duty and a constitutional obligation for those in power.

The MP's criticism stems from a viral incident at Buxar Sadar Hospital, where BJP MLA Anand Mishra allegedly caught a storekeeper providing fewer tablets than prescribed to a patient. A video clip, which spread widely on social media, showed the MLA instructing officials to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused employee.

"If no tangible steps are taken even after an offense is captured on camera, it reveals the emptiness of the claims made by those in authority," Singh stated. He emphasized that such inaction suggests the powerful are complicit in the very system they profess to challenge.

BJP's Long Tenure and Systemic Failure Alleged

Singh pointed out that the BJP has been part of the government in Bihar for close to two decades, and the state's health minister is also from the party. While acknowledging that MLA Anand Mishra might be a new face, the RJD leader asserted that the party and its administrative machinery are not.

"This old system shows no sign of genuine accountability," he alleged. "What we witness is mere talk and symbolic gestures, not substantive action." His remarks underscore a broader political narrative accusing the BJP of using anti-corruption rhetoric for political gain without implementing systemic changes.

MLA Mishra Hits Back, Defends His Record

In a robust response, BJP MLA Anand Mishra firmly rejected the insinuation that he is more focused on creating social media reels than on public service. He defended his dual approach of ground-level work and digital engagement, stating it aims to raise public awareness and maintain a direct connection with constituents.

Explaining his actions during the hospital incident, Mishra said, "I am aware of standard administrative protocols. I acted strictly in accordance with the law and Standard Operating Procedures." He clarified that politicians do not directly file FIRs; instead, he had directed the hospital's deputy superintendent to take necessary action.

Mishra stated that when information about a violation enters the public domain, it becomes the responsibility of the administration and police to register a formal case. He promised to follow up on the actions taken by hospital authorities, the district administration, and the police after the upcoming DISHA committee meeting.

Accusing the RJD MP of twisting facts for political mileage, Mishra added, "I do not need to respond in detail to someone who lacks complete understanding of administrative procedures." He concluded with a warning, saying, "Wait and watch. I will expose all commission agents and ensure the rule of law is applied to them in due time."

The exchange highlights the ongoing political friction in Bihar, where allegations of corruption and governance failures remain potent tools for opposition parties, while ruling party members defend their record and methods of public engagement.
