In a significant operation, the Chatra police successfully foiled a potential robbery attempt by apprehending four inter-state criminals armed with firearms and ammunition. The arrests were made on Saturday from the Hunterganj area, following a meticulously planned raid.

Details of the Operation

Superintendent of Police (SP) Animesh Naithany confirmed that a special team, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sunny Vardhan and Hunterganj police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar, conducted the raid at the Upgraded Govt Middle School in Dumaria village.

Identities of the Accused

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gautam Paswan, a resident of Barakala village under Kothi police station limits; Praveen Kumar, from Jaygir village under Barachatti police station limits; Vikas Manjhi, hailing from Patwas village under Fatehpur police station area in Bihar; and Chintu Paswan, a resident of Pindra village under Hunterganj police station limits in Chatra.

Recovery of Weapons

During the operation, the police recovered two pistols, one country-made pistol, and four cartridges from the possession of the accused. SP Naithany stated, "Two pistols, one country-made pistol and four cartridges were also recovered from their possession." Notably, Gautam Paswan is an accused in nine criminal cases in Jharkhand and Bihar, indicating his involvement in a series of offenses.

Ongoing Investigation

The police are currently investigating the role of these individuals in other criminal activities and their network. The accused are in police custody and are being interrogated to uncover further links. Authorities are also probing whether they were part of a larger syndicate operating across state borders.
