Chhattisgarh Launches Statewide Paddy Procurement at ₹3100 per Quintal
Chhattisgarh Begins Statewide Paddy Procurement

The Chhattisgarh government has officially launched its comprehensive statewide paddy procurement drive for the 2023-24 marketing season, implementing the promised minimum support price of ₹3100 per quintal that brings significant relief to the agricultural community.

Massive Scale Procurement Operation

This year's procurement operation demonstrates an enormous scale of planning and execution. Approximately 2.67 lakh farmers have successfully registered across the state to participate in the government's paddy purchase scheme. The administration has established 168 functional procurement centers strategically located throughout Chhattisgarh to ensure easy access for farmers from all regions.

The procurement process is being managed through various implementing agencies including the Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation, MARKFED, and the Food Corporation of India. These organizations are working in coordination to streamline the entire process from purchase to payment.

Assured Pricing and Payment System

Farmers in Chhattisgarh are receiving ₹3100 per quintal for common grade paddy, while the superior 'A' grade variety commands an even higher price of ₹3120 per quintal. This pricing structure significantly exceeds the central government's minimum support price, demonstrating the state's commitment to farmer welfare.

The payment mechanism has been designed for efficiency and transparency. Amounts are being directly transferred to farmers' bank accounts within a strict timeframe of 72 hours following the procurement. This digital payment system eliminates delays and middlemen, ensuring that farmers receive their full payment promptly.

Government's Commitment to Farmers

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has emphasized the government's dedication to supporting the agricultural sector. The procurement initiative represents one of the state's most significant interventions in the agricultural economy, aimed at providing economic security to farming families.

The current procurement drive follows the successful purchase of nearly 1.25 crore metric tons of paddy during the previous marketing year. This historical context demonstrates the program's consistency and the government's ongoing commitment to maintaining this crucial support system for farmers.

Officials across all districts have received clear instructions to ensure a smooth, hassle-free procurement experience for every participating farmer. The system includes proper arrangements for weighing, quality testing, and storage facilities at all procurement centers.

This ambitious paddy procurement program underscores Chhattisgarh's position as a state that prioritizes agricultural prosperity and farmer welfare, setting a notable example in India's farm economy landscape.
