Chirag Paswan on Bihar Minister Not Named as NDA Nominee for Vidhan Parishad
Chirag Paswan on Bihar Minister Snub by NDA

Gandhinagar: Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan stated on Tuesday that the decision of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) not to nominate Bihar Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash for the Vidhan Parishad is an internal matter between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RML). Paswan made these remarks in Ahmedabad, where he was attending a two-day conference aimed at boosting the food processing sector in India.

Paswan's Response on the Issue

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Paswan clarified that he is not the appropriate person to comment on the matter, as it concerns the BJP and the RML, a constituent of the NDA. He noted that the BJP, being the largest partner in the alliance, usually handles seat allocation discussions with allies. Paswan expressed uncertainty about any gaps in negotiations between the BJP and RML that led to Prakash not being nominated for the Vidhan Parishad. He highlighted a constitutional issue: if Prakash does not become a member of the Vidhan Parishad, his position as a minister could be questioned. Paswan reiterated that this is strictly an issue between the BJP and the RML.

Context of the NDA Alliance

The RML is a member of the BJP-led NDA, and Paswan's own Lok Janshakti Party is also an NDA constituent. The conference in Ahmedabad, organized to enhance India's food processing industry, drew attention to this political development. Paswan's comments indicate that the NDA allies maintain open communication with the BJP regarding seat allocations, but specific details of the Prakash case remain unresolved.
