CM Dhami Inspects Bridge, Orders Fast-Track Construction

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Oversees Bridge Reconstruction on Mussoorie Road

In a proactive move to address critical infrastructure needs, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a detailed on-site inspection of an under-construction bridge at Shiv Mandir on Mussoorie Road in Dehradun on Tuesday. The visit focused on assessing the progress of the bridge, which suffered significant damage due to heavy rains in September 2025, disrupting connectivity between Dehradun and Mussoorie.

Immediate Measures and Long-Term Solutions

Following the rain-induced damage, authorities swiftly implemented a temporary solution by initiating one-way vehicular traffic through a Bailey bridge to maintain minimal movement. During his inspection, CM Dhami emphasized the urgency of completing the permanent bridge reconstruction, setting a clear target for completion within the next two to three months. He directed Public Works Department officials to expedite the work and adhere strictly to the stipulated deadlines, ensuring that the general public experiences ease of movement without prolonged delays.

The bridge serves as a vital link for daily commuters, including local residents and tourists, making its restoration a top priority for the state government. Dhami highlighted that to further smooth traffic flow, construction of an additional Bailey bridge for two-way movement is underway and will soon be operational from the other side as well.

Broader Infrastructure Initiatives and Pilgrimage Preparations

CM Dhami reiterated the state government's commitment to strengthening roads and bridges across Uttarakhand, noting that various projects in this domain are being implemented rapidly. "Our goal is to provide better connectivity to remote areas, enhancing accessibility and supporting regional development," he stated. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to boost infrastructure resilience and economic growth in the state.

In light of upcoming religious events, such as the Char Dham yatra and Adi Kailash yatra, Dhami has issued directives to all concerned departments to complete necessary infrastructural works on time. This ensures that pilgrims and travelers can navigate the routes safely and efficiently, contributing to a seamless experience during these significant cultural and spiritual journeys.

The inspection underscores the government's proactive approach to infrastructure management, balancing immediate repairs with long-term strategic planning to meet the evolving needs of Uttarakhand's populace and visitors.
