Chennai: After a four-day break in Kodaikanal, Chief Minister M K Stalin returned to Chennai on Wednesday. Stalin's return to Chennai comes on a day when most exit polls indicated that the DMK is likely to return to power.
Political Activities Resume
Stalin is expected to commence his political activities from Thursday, beginning with a series of meetings with party seniors and ministers. DMK leaders stated that the CM's schedule has not been finalized yet, but the coming days could involve both formal and informal discussions to prepare the party for the results day. In fact, Stalin had met a few party seniors even during his stay in Kodaikanal.
Meetings in Kodaikanal
Ministers including I Periyasamy and R Chakkarapani, both from Dindigul district, called on Stalin in the hill retreat. Stalin was in Kodaikanal with his family since Saturday last.
Tribute to Poet Bharathidasan
Meanwhile, Stalin paid tributes to Tamil poet Bharathidasan on his 135th birth anniversary. He said, "May the glory of Paavendhar Bharathidasan, who wielded Tamil as his weapon and proclaimed the pride of the race, live forever. The revolutionary poet Bharathidasan, who through his poetry revealed the sweetness of Tamil and the path to the upliftment of the Tamil people. May Paavendhar's steadfast and vibrant Tamil stand as a companion to our race like a light."
Police Personnel Transferred
Three policemen, who were found to be intoxicated during security duty for the CM at Kodaikanal, were transferred to the Theni Armed Reserve.
