The Coimbatore district has recorded an improved pass percentage in the Class X board examination this year, although its ranking in the state has slipped by one position. Meanwhile, the Tirupur and Nilgiris districts have shown improvement in both pass percentage and ranking.
Coimbatore District Performance
Coimbatore district achieved a pass rate of 97.09% in the Class X public examination this year, with 36,742 out of 37,844 students clearing the test. Girls outperformed boys in both numbers and percentage, with 18,982 girls passing at 98.16% compared to 17,760 boys at 95.97%.
Despite the improvement in pass percentage from 96.47% last year to 97.09% this year, the district slipped to seventh place in the state ranking after finishing sixth in 2024. A total of 251 schools achieved a 100% pass rate, including 52 government schools, 21 aided schools, and 178 private schools.
R Balamurali, Chief Educational Officer of Coimbatore, stated that officials analyzed school-wise data and implemented measures to enhance the pass percentage this year. As a result, the district recorded a 1.69% increase in pass rate compared to the previous year.
Tribal Schools and Prison Candidates
All 67 candidates from two tribal residential schools - Anaikatti Government Tribal Residential Higher Secondary School and Muttathuvayal Government Tribal Residential High School - cleared the examination. Similarly, all 45 inmates who appeared for the exam at the Coimbatore Central Prison also passed.
City Corporation Limits
Within the city corporation limits, the pass rate was 94.38%, with 1,748 out of 1,852 students clearing the exam. Among those who passed, there were 722 boys and 1,026 girls. Following the announcement of results, schools witnessed students and parents gathering to finalize Class XI subject choices. Several schools have started distributing application forms for admission.
Tirupur District Performance
In Tirupur district, 27,933 out of 29,013 students who appeared for the exam passed, resulting in an overall pass rate of 96.28%. The pass rate for boys was 95.04%, while for girls it was 97.45%. Tirupur improved its state ranking to 11th this year, up from 21st in 2024 and 17th in 2025. A total of 184 schools, including 60 government schools, recorded a 100% pass rate.
Nilgiris District Performance
The Nilgiris district improved its ranking to 10th with a 96.32% pass rate, up from 27th last year. Of the 6,740 students who appeared for the exam, 6,492 passed. At least 106 of the 184 schools in the district - including 53 government schools - achieved a 100% pass rate.
