In view of vote counting for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, Coimbatore city police have announced traffic diversions around Government College of Technology (GCT) on Thadagam Road on Monday, May 4. The restrictions will be in force from 6am to 10pm.
Alternate Routes for Vehicles
Vehicles heading from Gandhipuram to Marudhamalai via North Coimbatore flyover, Avinashilingam College, and Thadagam Road must turn right at Chinthamani Junction, proceed via East Periasamy Road to Thadagam Road, and continue toward Marudhamalai through Lawley Road Junction.
Vehicles entering the city from Marudhamalai, Thondamuthur, and Vadavalli must turn right at Lawley Road Junction and proceed via Cowley Brown Road and DB Road to reach Mettupalayam Road.
Buses and other vehicles heading from Gandhi Park and Poosaripalayam toward Thadagam Road, GCT, or Kanuvai via TVS Nagar must use TV Samy Road West to reach Mettupalayam Road and continue their journey.
City-bound vehicles coming from Thadagam Road and Edayarpalayam will be diverted at NSR Road Junction and must proceed via NSR Road and Alagesan Road to reach Mettupalayam Road.
Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on Thadagam Road, Mettupalayam Road, and Marudhamalai Road during the restriction period.
Complete Ban on Specific Stretches
Both private and public vehicles will be completely banned on the stretch from Lawley Road Junction to GCT and from the Bharathi Park Road–Raja Annamalai Road Junction to GCT.
