CM Revanth Reddy's Tribute on X
In a post on social media platform X, CM Revanth Reddy extended his congratulations to party workers, cadres, and leaders. He described the Congress as the architect of nation-building and a true representative of all Indians. The Chief Minister emphasized the party's 140-year journey, noting its front-line leadership in the freedom struggle and its subsequent work in establishing robust democratic institutions.
"Congress is a party whose history has been written with the sweat of its workers," Reddy stated. He credited the party for ushering in pivotal policies and transforming the nation from a state of hunger to achieving food safety.
Gandhi Bhavan Ceremonies and Leadership Speeches
The main event was held at the party's state headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud unfurled the party flag. Senior leaders, including Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek, and Mohammed Azharuddin, along with MLC Balmoori Venkat and planning commission vice-chairman G Chinna Reddy, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Addressing the gathering, Mahesh Goud highlighted the Congress's status as one of the world's oldest political parties, built on the sacrifices of visionary leaders. He asserted that the contributions of these leaders to India's freedom and development were unparalleled.
Legacy of Congress Leadership and Contemporary Critique
Goud elaborated on the foundational work of Jawaharlal Nehru, stating it was difficult to imagine India's trajectory without him. He credited Nehru's policies for enabling the country's leap from basic manufacturing to advanced space technology. The TPCC chief also traced the lineage of progress through Indira Gandhi's decisive governance, Rajiv Gandhi's push for science and technology, and the economic reforms under PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh.
Shifting to contemporary politics, Goud launched a sharp critique against the central government. He accused the Modi government of undermining constitutional values and crafting policies that favor corporate interests. In contrast, he highlighted the Telangana government's initiative to conduct a caste survey aimed at ensuring equitable benefits for all sections of society.
Goud further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in a secret understanding with the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi), was actively obstructing development and social justice in the state of Telangana.
The 141st foundation day event served as both a reflection on the Congress party's historical legacy and a platform to outline its current political stance and challenges in the state.
