Congress Leaders Allege BRS MLA Harish Rao Misleads Public on Musi Rejuvenation Project

In a significant political development in Hyderabad, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLC Balmoori Venkat have leveled serious allegations against BRS MLA T Harish Rao. The Congress leaders claimed on Sunday that Harish Rao is actively attempting to mislead and instigate residents of an apartment complex against the ongoing Musi River rejuvenation project.

Allegations of Regulatory Violations in Apartment Construction

Kiran Kumar Reddy asserted that the previous BRS government had granted permissions for the construction of various apartments in clear violation of established regulations. He specifically pointed to the Madhu Park Ridge apartment, stating that it violated buffer zone requirements.

"It is mandatory to have a 30-metre buffer zone as per government orders, but only a 9-metre buffer zone was given," the Congress MP emphasized. "The previous government had issued many such permissions in violation of rules."

Reddy further alleged that Harish Rao is trying to shift blame onto the current Congress government for issues stemming from these past violations. He dismissed Harish's allegations as politically motivated falsehoods spread daily for political survival, noting that the BRS has been rejected by voters in every election since December 2023.

Congress Commitment to Affected Residents

The Congress MP expressed sympathy for apartment residents suffering due to the actions of the previous BRS government, noting that many people had purchased apartments unknowingly of the regulatory violations.

"It is not their fault," Reddy stated. "But this is the pro-poor and pro-people Congress government. The state will provide compensation to the displaced residents. I will also urge the government to take legal action against the builders and officials responsible for the violations."

Reddy highlighted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a world-class city through completion of major infrastructure projects including Metro rail expansion, the Musi rejuvenation, the regional ring road, skyways, and Bharat Future City.

Additional Allegations from Congress MLC

Congress MLC Balmoori Venkat added further allegations against Harish Rao, claiming the BRS MLA had forcibly displaced residents of 14 villages for the construction of the Mallanna Sagar project. Venkat stated that many residents had died, unable to bear the displacement without proper rehabilitation measures.

Venkat further claimed that the BRS does not want the Musi project to be completed, as its success would ensure Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's name is recorded in the history of landmark projects in Hyderabad. He referenced former Chief Minister KCR's promise to transform Hussainsagar water to the quality of tender coconut water, alleging that BRS leaders had siphoned off thousands of crores in the name of the Musi project while in government.

The Congress MLC affirmed that the current Congress government would compensate families affected by the Musi rejuvenation project, contrasting this with what he described as the BRS's failure to properly rehabilitate displaced residents in previous projects.
