Congress Launches Scathing Critique of Uttar Pradesh Government's Nine-Year Tenure
The state unit of the Congress party has unleashed a vehement attack on the Uttar Pradesh government, just one day after the administration celebrated its ninth anniversary in office by listing its achievements. State Congress chief Ajay Rai spearheaded the assault, categorically dismissing the government's claims of development over the past nine years as entirely false and misleading.
Allegations of 'Nine Years of Destruction' and Infrastructure Failures
In a strongly worded statement delivered in the presence of senior party office-bearers, Rai asserted that the BJP government's record reflects 'nine years of destruction' rather than any genuine progress. He pointed to the recent collapse of a section of the newly inaugurated Green Corridor in Lucknow as glaring evidence of systemic corruption and shoddy workmanship.
'A segment of the road from this Rs 1,519 crore project caved in the very next day after its inauguration,' Rai emphasized, highlighting what he described as a monumental waste of public funds and a betrayal of taxpayer trust. This incident, according to the Congress leader, symbolizes the government's hollow promises and failed governance.
Economic Hardships and Social Issues Across the State
Rai further alleged that a pervasive network of usurers is operating unchecked across Uttar Pradesh, exploiting vulnerable families. He referenced a tragic case from Fatehpur, where a family reportedly died by suicide after being forced to repay an amount far exceeding their original loan, illustrating the dire financial distress faced by many citizens.
Additionally, he mentioned the suicide of Mohanlalganj rojgaar sevak Ramesh Prajapati, who was allegedly driven to despair over unpaid honorarium, underscoring the government's failure to support its own employees. Rai also cited the killing of two officials at the HPCL plant in Badaun as an example of deteriorating security and administrative negligence.
Agricultural Crisis and Law and Order Breakdown
On the agricultural front, Rai condemned the severe losses faced by potato farmers in Agra, accusing the government of turning a blind eye to their plight. He also alleged rampant black marketing of urea ahead of the crucial sowing season, which he claimed is crippling farmers' productivity and livelihoods.
Rai accused the government of a comprehensive failure in maintaining law and order, pointing to recent disturbing incidents in Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Bareilly, and Bhadohi. These events, he argued, demonstrate a collapse of governance and safety mechanisms, leaving citizens vulnerable and insecure.
In summary, the Congress party's critique paints a picture of an administration mired in corruption, economic mismanagement, and social unrest, directly challenging the celebratory narrative presented by the Uttar Pradesh government on its ninth anniversary.
