Congress Reaffirms Support for Jeevan Reddy Amid Political Tensions in Telangana

In a strong defense of the party's political stance, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Mahesh Kumar Goud declared on Thursday that the Congress has consistently backed Jeevan Reddy throughout his career, providing him with the party ticket to contest elections a remarkable 14 times. Speaking at a press conference held at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, Goud emphasized that voters are unlikely to give weight to Jeevan Reddy's recent criticisms of the Congress, suggesting his remarks hold little sway in the political landscape.

Goud Challenges Jeevan Reddy and Criticizes Opposition Parties

Goud firmly asserted that Jeevan Reddy lacks the authority to call for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's resignation, labeling such suggestions as unfounded. He further challenged Jeevan Reddy to address his past criticisms of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), highlighting what he sees as hypocrisy in the political discourse. "There is no difference between the BRS and BJP. Both parties may even unite in the future," Goud stated, drawing a sharp line between the Congress and its rivals.

Elaborating on this point, the TPCC chief remarked that no one has benefited under BJP leadership, accusing the party of contributing to the decline of the BRS. He warned that the public is well-aware of how the BRS is being exploited by the BJP, framing the allegations against Congress leaders as baseless and politically motivated.

Addressing Allegations and Land Scam Claims

Regarding the allegations against minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Goud indicated that the Congress would be open to investigating the claims if concrete evidence is presented. "Those making accusations should come to Gandhi Bhavan with evidence," he said, cautioning against unsubstantiated claims. He pointed out that the Nadargul land scam occurred during the BRS tenure, vowing that the Congress will not remain silent if provoked. Goud also urged Harish Rao to present any evidence he might have, reinforcing the party's commitment to transparency.

No Immediate Cabinet Expansion Planned

On the topic of cabinet expansion, Goud clarified that any decisions would be made by the chief minister, and to his knowledge, there would not be any expansion in the near future. This statement underscores the current stability within the Congress leadership in Telangana, as the party focuses on governance and addressing political challenges.

The press conference highlighted the Congress's firm stance in defending its allies while critiquing opposition parties, reflecting ongoing political dynamics in the state. With elections and allegations shaping the narrative, Goud's remarks aim to consolidate party support and counter negative perceptions.
