Congress candidates win unopposed in Jubbal panchayat

Congress-backed candidates Kamlesh Jhagta and Lokpal Sharkholi were unanimously elected unopposed as president and vice-president of the Jubbal panchayat samiti in Shimla district. The election took place under the chairmanship of SDM Gurmeet Negi and BDO Karan Singh, with all 15 elected members participating.

Unanimous Election Process

Kamlesh Jhagta, representing Ward Ravin, was proposed for the president post, while Lokpal Sharkholi from Ward Shili-Parali was nominated for vice-president. Both nominations received unanimous support from all members. Congress-backed candidates had previously swept the elections by winning all 15 wards of the panchayat samiti.

Background of Leaders

Kamlesh Jhagta previously served as head of the Ravin gram panchayat. Lokpal Sharkholi is an active Congress leader and served as the in-charge of the Jubbal zone. After the election, both leaders paid a courtesy call on Education Minister Rohit Thakur.

Minister's Remarks

Education Minister Rohit Thakur congratulated the members and thanked them for conducting the elections in a cordial atmosphere. He emphasized the important role of panchayat samiti in the Panchayati Raj system and assured full cooperation from the state government to accelerate development works in the area through the panchayat samiti.
