Congress Party Announces Major Organizational Overhaul in Goa with Four New Districts
In a significant move to strengthen its grassroots presence, the Congress party has officially carved out four new districts for Goa at the organizational level. The newly established districts are North Goa, Mhadei, South Goa, and Kushavati. This restructuring is part of the party's broader strategy to enhance its organizational framework and improve coordination among local functionaries and workers.
Appointment of District Presidents Set for Early March
According to Manikrao Thakre, the All India Congress Committee's (AICC) Goa in-charge, district presidents for each of these four districts will be appointed by the first week of March. This timeline is crucial as the party aims to finalize its leadership structure ahead of upcoming political activities and elections.
AICC Observers to Lead Selection Process Under Sanghatan Srijan Abhiyan
To ensure a transparent and participatory selection process, AICC-appointed observers will be stationed in Goa from February 17 to March 1. This initiative is part of the Congress party's nationwide Sanghatan Srijan Abhiyan, a campaign focused on organizational creation and strengthening. During this period, the observers will tour the respective districts and engage in detailed interactions with party functionaries and workers at the block and booth levels.
The primary objective of these interactions is to ascertain the preferences of local members regarding the appointment of district presidents. Thakre emphasized that this bottom-up approach is designed to foster inclusivity and ensure that the selected leaders have the support of the grassroots cadre.
Collaborative Efforts with GPCC Observers
In addition to the AICC observers, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has also deputed its own observers to assist in the process. This collaborative effort between national and state-level party officials underscores the importance of the reorganization and aims to streamline the selection of district presidents.
Thakre confirmed that with the combined efforts of AICC and GPCC observers, the four district presidents are expected to be in place by the first week of March, marking a key milestone in the party's organizational revamp in Goa.
