Congress Demands Immediate Dismissal of OBC Commission Over Delayed Survey Report
In a significant political development, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra issued a stern ultimatum on Thursday, demanding the immediate dismissal of the OBC Commission if it fails to submit its long-awaited survey report. This demand comes as the commission has yet to deliver its findings despite nearly a full year having passed since its establishment.
Public Meeting in Beawar Highlights Election Delay Concerns
Speaking at a public gathering in Beawar, organized under the Congress party's "Sangathan Bachao, Loktantra Bachao" campaign, Dotasra launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP government. He accused the administration of deliberately delaying local body elections in Rajasthan, a move he claims undermines democratic processes and governance at the grassroots level.
Dotasra emphasized that the Rajasthan High Court has taken a serious view of the repeated postponements of these elections. The court has reportedly sought detailed explanations from both the state government and the State Election Commission regarding the continuous delays, highlighting judicial concern over the matter.
Court Directive and Missed Deadlines
Referring to a specific court directive issued on November 14 last year, Dotasra pointed out that elections were mandated to be conducted by April 15. However, he noted that the electoral process remains incomplete, with no clear timeline for its conclusion. This failure to adhere to judicial deadlines has fueled allegations of intentional stalling by the BJP-led government.
The Congress leader's demands underscore growing political tensions in Rajasthan, as parties prepare for upcoming electoral battles. The delay in the OBC Commission's report is seen as a critical issue, potentially affecting reservation policies and political representation for Other Backward Classes in the state.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the state government's response to these allegations and the court's ongoing scrutiny of the election delays. The outcome could have significant implications for Rajasthan's political landscape and democratic integrity.
