Congress MP Randhawa Warns Against Voter List Irregularities

Chandigarh: Congress MP from Gurdaspur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Saturday stated that Punjab would strongly oppose any irregularities in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Concerns Over Voter List Discrepancies

Randhawa expressed concern over reported discrepancies in voter lists and allegations of vote tampering across India. Referring to claims of "100 votes per household," he described these reports as alarming and urged the Supreme Court to intervene. He warned that any attempt to manipulate votes in Punjab would not be tolerated.

"Punjab's citizens are fully aware and will defend the state and democratic rights through democratic means against any anti-democratic actions," said Randhawa.

Criticism of Economic Policies

Criticizing the Centre's economic policies, Randhawa said rising prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas were placing a heavy burden on ordinary citizens, especially daily-wage earners, small traders, and middle-class families.

Condemnation of Farmer Treatment

He also condemned the use of force against protesting farmers in Chandigarh, asserting that farmers and elders deserve respect.

Demand for Investigation

In addition, the former deputy CM of Punjab demanded a fair investigation into the shooting incident involving Punjabi singer and actor Daljit Dosanjh's personal assistant. He criticized the delay in police action.
