Ranchi: State Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh on Monday expressed concern over a large number of unmapped voters in urban areas across the state and urged immediate corrective action.
Congress Delegation Meets CEO
Talking to media at the party office, Kamlesh said that a Congress delegation met chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar and submitted a memorandum on the issue. According to the party, as many as 2,10,006 voters in Ranchi, 2,80,415 in Bokaro, 2,33,326 in Dhanbad, 1,50,082 in Jharia and 1,85,796 in East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) remain unmapped. “These voters must be mapped without delay to ensure their electoral rights are protected,” he said.
Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision
As part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Election Commission is currently mapping all unmapped voters after publishing a list on May 23. From June 30 onwards, booth level officers will visit door to door for physical verification process. This initiative aims to ensure that every eligible voter is properly registered and can exercise their franchise without any hindrance.
Kamlesh emphasized that the large number of unmapped voters, especially in major urban centers, poses a significant challenge to the democratic process. He urged the Election Commission to expedite the mapping process and ensure that no voter is left out. The Congress party has pledged to monitor the situation closely and work with the authorities to resolve the issue promptly.
