Congress Launches Major Organizational Overhaul in Tamil Nadu
The Indian National Congress has initiated a significant restructuring of its district-level and state-level committees as part of a nationwide organizational revamp. This move aims to strengthen the party's grassroots presence and improve its outreach to voters across the country.
T Bellaiah Naik, vice-president of the adivasi wing of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and observer for Namakkal East and West districts, revealed these developments during his visit to Namakkal on Monday.
Horizontal and Vertical Restructuring Strategy
Naik explained that the restructuring initiative follows decisions made during the AICC's executive committee meeting held in Ahmedabad. The party will reach out to people both horizontally and vertically through this comprehensive reorganization of its administrative framework.
"It has been decided not only to restructure district level committees, but also to restructure the executive committees," Naik stated while interacting with reporters. He emphasized that these measures are specifically designed to transform Congress into a stronger political entity capable of meeting public expectations.
The AICC leader confirmed that party cadres had submitted petitions to Rahul Gandhi during his recent yatras, urging him to strengthen the party's organizational structure. "Since people have high expectations in Congress, they said that the party structure should be changed," Naik added.
Similar Initiatives Across Tamil Nadu
Meanwhile, in a parallel development, AICC spokeswoman Shoba Oza conducted a similar meeting with district-level functionaries in Salem. Oza, who serves as the party observer in Salem district, coordinated these organizational discussions with local Congress leaders.
The Namakkal meeting saw participation from prominent local Congress representatives, including Tamil Nadu Congress Committee spokesman Dr P V Senthil and district president B A Siddique. Similarly, Salem district Congress president K Selvaperunthagai attended the meeting in his jurisdiction.
Naik confirmed that the change of administrators will take place soon following Rahul Gandhi's advice. This organizational restructuring mission represents one of the most significant internal reforms undertaken by the Congress party in recent years, signaling its preparation for upcoming electoral challenges.
The comprehensive overhaul spans multiple levels of the party hierarchy, ensuring that both district-level operations and state-level coordination mechanisms receive simultaneous attention. This dual-focused approach aims to create a more responsive and effective political organization capable of addressing contemporary voter concerns.
