Congress Whip Accuses BRS and BJP of Secret Alliance in Telangana Municipalities
In a significant political development, government whip Adi Srinivas on Sunday strongly asserted that the covert alliance between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been unequivocally exposed. This revelation came to light following the recent elections for key municipal positions in two Telangana towns, where the two parties allegedly collaborated to secure top posts.
Municipal Elections Reveal Political Collaboration
Adi Srinivas pointed to specific instances in Ibrahimpatnam and Khanapur municipalities as clear evidence of this alliance. In Ibrahimpatnam, the BRS successfully secured the chairperson post, while the BJP took the vice-chairperson position. Conversely, in Khanapur, the BJP assumed the chairperson role, with BRS capturing the vice-chairperson seat. "At least now, BJP state president N Ramchander Rao and BRS working president K T Rama Rao should cease misleading the public with false statements," Srinivas declared during a press interaction. "Their so-called Fevicol bond has been thoroughly exposed through these municipal elections. The longstanding position of the Congress party, which has consistently maintained that BRS and BJP are operating under a secret pact, has now been definitively validated."
Demand for Transparency and Accountability
The government whip issued a direct challenge to BJP president Ramchander Rao, who has repeatedly claimed that his party maintains no alliances with any other political entity. Srinivas demanded that Rao provide a transparent explanation to the citizens of Telangana regarding the events that unfolded in Ibrahimpatnam and Khanapur municipalities. "He must clarify to the people what exactly transpired between BRS and BJP in these municipal bodies," Srinivas insisted, emphasizing the need for political honesty.
Furthermore, Srinivas criticized BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) for his subdued response to the situation. "KTR, who has consistently denied any alliances involving BRS, has now fallen silent and appears subdued. While he issued statements celebrating these election outcomes as a triumph for democracy, he conspicuously avoided addressing the BRS-BJP alliance that facilitated these victories," the Congress leader remarked, highlighting what he perceives as hypocrisy.
