Congress Wins Quilandy Seat, Praveen Kumar Defeats CPI(M) Rival
Congress Wins Quilandy Seat, Beats CPI(M) in Kerala

K Praveen Kumar of the Indian National Congress has secured a decisive victory in the Quilandy constituency, polling 79,913 votes to defeat his nearest rival, K Dasan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The coastal constituency, located in Kozhikode district, has approximately 2.15 lakh voters.

Election Results and Margin

The Congress candidate's win marks a significant shift in this constituency. In the 2021 assembly elections, the CPI(M) candidate A. K. Saseendran had emerged victorious, defeating the United Democratic Front (UDF) rival by a margin of 2,800 votes. This time, however, the Congress managed to overturn the previous result with a comfortable lead.

BJP's Growing Influence

While the Bharatiya Janata Party's influence in the region remains minor, it has been gradually increasing over the years. The party's vote share, though not enough to win, has been a factor in the electoral dynamics of the constituency.
