CPI Swiftly Announces Full Candidate Roster for Kerala Assembly Elections

In a move that caught many by surprise, the Communist Party of India (CPI) unveiled its complete list of 25 candidates for the upcoming legislative assembly elections in Kerala on Sunday. This announcement came within just an hour after the Election Commission declared the election schedule, showcasing the party's preparedness and strategic planning.

Key Candidates and Ministerial Selections

The list includes four current CPI ministers who are part of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, indicating the party's intent to retain experienced leadership. Despite facing protests from sitting MLA C C Mukundan in the Nattika seat, the CPI leadership stood firm on its decision. They have chosen former MLA Geetha Gopi as their candidate for this constituency, highlighting a commitment to fielding strong contenders.

High-Stakes Contests and Roadshows

One of the most anticipated battles will be in North Paravur, where Kaipamangalam MLA E T Taison is set to contest against opposition leader V D Satheesan. This matchup is expected to be a closely watched and competitive race, drawing significant attention from voters and political analysts alike.

Meanwhile, in Thrissur, cultural activist and poet Alankode Leelakrishnan was announced as the CPI candidate by state secretary Binoy Viswam. Within minutes, Leelakrishnan conducted a vibrant roadshow, led by CPM district secretary K V Abdul Khader, CPI leaders V S Sunilkumar, and MLA P Balachandran. Hundreds of LDF activists participated, starting from the CMS School area and concluding in front of the Thrissur corporation office after passing through the Swaraj Round.

Speaking to the media, Leelakrishnan expressed full confidence in securing victory. "The LDF had won in this constituency in the last two elections, and we are set for a hat-trick win here this time," he stated, emphasizing the party's strong track record in the region.

District-Wide Campaign Efforts

LDF candidates also conducted roadshows in various other constituencies within Thrissur district, including Manalur, Guruvayur, and Puthukkad. These events aimed to mobilize support and engage with voters ahead of the elections. The LDF has announced candidates for all seats in the district except Chalakkudy, where a Kerala Congress (M) candidate is expected to contest, indicating ongoing coalition dynamics.

This swift and comprehensive candidate announcement by the CPI underscores the intense political activity as Kerala gears up for the legislative assembly elections, with the party positioning itself for a strong performance across key constituencies.
