Expelled CPM Leader Demands Answers on Martyr Fund Misuse Allegations

In Kozhikode, expelled CPM leader V Kunhikrishnan has strongly criticized Payannur MLA T I Madhusoodanan's response to allegations of misappropriation of the Dhanaraj martyr fund. Kunhikrishnan stated that Madhusoodanan's claim that Communists could not even contemplate misusing such a fund does not constitute a proper reply to the serious accusations raised.

Allegations of Manipulation and Irregularities

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Kunhikrishnan emphasized that while many believe Communists would never think of misusing a martyr fund, detailed scrutiny has revealed instances of manipulation and irregularities. He expressed frustration over the lack of accountability, saying, "I raised this issue within the party unit, and shouldn't I receive a direct answer to that? There is no point in trying to justify it by quoting Lord Krishna or explaining events from the Puranas." This highlights his demand for concrete responses rather than philosophical or religious justifications.

Rejection of MLA's Contention on Fund Disclosure

Kunhikrishnan also rejected Madhusoodanan's argument that disclosing details of the amount collected for the Dhanaraj martyr fund would insult the family or affect the ongoing trial. He clarified that the case is proceeding in court with witnesses, and its outcome will depend solely on the judicial process, not on the current political row. This underscores his call for transparency and adherence to legal procedures in handling the fund.

Uncertainty Over CPM Candidate Selection

When asked about the possibility of Madhusoodanan being fielded as the CPM candidate in Payyannur, Kunhikrishnan noted that the party has not yet taken a stand on who the candidate will be. He stated, "I don't want to give an answer based on imagination. We will take a stand according to the situation as it arises." This reflects the ongoing internal dynamics and uncertainty within the CPM regarding candidate selection amidst the controversy.

The dispute centers on allegations of financial mismanagement, with Kunhikrishnan pushing for greater accountability and Madhusoodanan defending the party's integrity. As the judicial process continues, this issue remains a point of contention within Kerala's political landscape, highlighting tensions over transparency and ethical governance in political funding.
