CPM Leaders Condemn Attack on Dalit Youth in Haryana

A delegation of Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders visited the family of a Dalit youth who was allegedly tied by his legs and hung upside down in a well in Sorkhi village, Hansi district, Haryana. The delegation included CPM leaders Jaibhagwan and Satvir Singh, along with Janwadi Mahila Samiti state president Savita.

Incident Details

The youth was brutally thrashed on suspicion of motorbike theft. The Hansi police have registered a criminal case in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation. The delegation strongly condemned the act, describing it as inhuman, barbaric, and a direct assault on the rule of law and democratic values.

Condemnation and Concerns

The leaders stated that such acts reflect the growing trend of mob justice and vigilantism in society, while the administration often remains a silent spectator. They pointed out that rising unemployment, social insecurity, weakening faith in law enforcement, and the normalisation of hatred and violence against Dalits and other marginalised communities have contributed to such incidents.
