CPM Rejects Reports of Division Over Election Review, Calls Them False
CPM Rejects Reports of Division Over Election Review

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has rejected media reports suggesting that its state secretariat and state committee were divided over the election review. In a statement, the CPM state secretariat clarified that the review report was unanimously approved by the state committee, calling the contrary reports an attempt to cover up the administrative failures of the UDF government.

The secretariat stated that the reporting of the state committee-approved review report to district committees has been completed, and the process for area committees has begun. It also dismissed earlier reports claiming there was voting in the CPM politburo regarding the selection of Pinarayi Vijayan as opposition leader.

“There was no difference of opinion in the state committee over the findings in the review report. The reports claiming otherwise were false. Additionally, extended state committee, district committees, and area committees are being convened in August to analyze organizational weaknesses and decide on a rectification drive. Alleging additional motives to this would be contrary to facts,” the secretariat said.

The statement also addressed false stories about candidate selection in the Taliparamba constituency. The Kannur district committee and the state committee examined the matter and clarified decisions through the media. Despite this, some are spreading new fabricated tales, the statement added.

“Those who left the party and contested based on vested interests are also spreading fabricated stories under the pretense of ‘saving’ the party. People who quit the party during the election phase out of power ambitions and joined the UDF are now coming forward with false narratives to justify their mistakes,” the statement said.

The CPM accused right-wing media of targeting the party to cover up the UDF’s hypocrisy, which was exposed after the UDF appeared before the public with empty promises to win votes. Promises such as a ₹21,000 honorarium for ASHAs in the first cabinet and free travel for women across KSRTC by June 15 have been violated. Those who opposed the PM SHRI scheme are now ready to sign on to it, the statement noted.
