Dalits March to DCF Office in Chikkaballapur

In Karnataka's Chikkaballapur district, members of the Dalit community marched to the Divisional Forest Officer (DCF) office on Tuesday to protest against an alleged eviction attempt. Leaders of various Dalit organizations attempted to launch an indefinite strike on the DCF office premises and had even erected a tent for the purpose.

Protest Over Eviction Bid

The protesters accused the forest department of trying to evict Dalit families from their ancestral lands in the region. They demanded that the authorities halt the eviction process and provide them with legal protection. The demonstration saw participation from several community leaders and local residents.

Indefinite Strike Planned

The Dalit leaders stated that they would continue their protest until their demands were met. The tent erected on the office premises was intended to serve as a base for the indefinite strike. Police were deployed to maintain law and order, but no untoward incidents were reported.
