Delhi Chief Minister Reiterates Commitment to Development Funding

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday firmly reiterated that there would be absolutely no shortage of funds for development works across Delhi. She also asserted that any laxity in project execution would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Review Meeting on Infrastructure Projects

Gupta chaired a comprehensive review meeting focusing specifically on road and drainage works that had been approved earlier. During this meeting, she directed all concerned departments to complete their tendering processes by the end of March. This deadline is crucial to ensure that all projects are completed well before the monsoon season arrives.

"The pace of development works must be visible on the ground," the Chief Minister emphasized during the meeting. "Development projects worth approximately Rs 3,786 crore in total have been approved so far under three departments. All agencies must work in close coordination and expedite the completion of pending documentation."

Three Key Development Schemes

The meeting was specifically convened to review works under three important development schemes:

  • Chief Minister Development Fund (CMDF)
  • Delhi Village Development Board (DVDB)
  • Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board

Following the detailed review, Gupta explained that the Delhi government is taking concrete, measurable steps for the holistic development of villages throughout the capital region.

Detailed Project Approvals and Funding

"In order to strengthen basic infrastructure in the capital, a large number of projects have been approved under the CMDF scheme," Gupta stated. "So far, 3,812 development projects have received administrative approval under this scheme, with a total estimated cost of approximately Rs 1,798.85 crore."

Regarding village development, she added: "In this direction, 707 projects in various rural areas have been approved under the Delhi Village Development Board, with an expenditure of approximately Rs 1,557 crore."

For the trans-Yamuna region specifically, the Chief Minister revealed: "799 projects have been approved under the Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board, with an expenditure of approximately Rs 430 crore."

Scope of Development Works

These approved projects encompass a wide range of infrastructure improvements, including:

  1. Construction of new roads and drainage systems
  2. Works related to water supply enhancement
  3. Installation of streetlights for improved safety
  4. Development of parks and green spaces
  5. Other essential basic infrastructure facilities

The Chief Minister's strong emphasis on timely completion and zero tolerance for delays underscores the administration's commitment to visible, tangible development outcomes for Delhi residents.
