Police have intensified action in connection with the firing and assault incident that took place at Chhatabad under the Katras police station area on the night of May 27, as reported by Sharad Chandra of TNN. An FIR has been registered against 22 named accused and 10 unidentified persons. Three accused have been arrested so far, while raids are underway to nab the remaining suspects.
Background of the Incident
According to police, the violence erupted due to an old rivalry between Vikas Bajrangi and Amit Yadav. The dispute escalated into a clash between two groups, leading to assault and indiscriminate firing in the locality. Two persons sustained bullet injuries in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment.
Arrests and Seizures
Acting swiftly, police arrested three named accused identified as Anand Yadav (28), Vivek Thakur (25), and Karan Das (32). During the operation, police also seized a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two empty shells, and a vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
Police Response
Baghmara SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal said the police are conducting continuous raids to arrest the remaining accused involved in the incident. “No criminal will be spared, and strict action will be taken against all those responsible,” he said. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway, and additional arrests are expected in the coming days.
