Dhanbad: Sanjeev Singh, the newly elected mayor of Dhanbad, and his counterpart in Hazaribag, Arvind Rana, came together on Thursday to advocate for stronger coordination among mayors across the state and to collectively push urban development initiatives at the state level.
Call for Collective Governance
During the discussion, the duo emphasized the need for collective functioning among all municipal corporations for better governance. They stressed that a unified approach would help address urban challenges more effectively and accelerate development in cities across Jharkhand.
Political Context
The meeting has drawn political attention as both mayors were widely perceived as rebel-backed candidates during the recently concluded municipal elections in Jharkhand. Singh contested the election as a rebel candidate against the official line of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rana, however, has ideological roots linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
This bipartisan collaboration signals a potential shift in local governance dynamics, with mayors prioritizing urban development over party affiliations. The duo plans to reach out to other mayors in the state to form a collective platform for advocacy.
