The Dharavi Bachao Andolan (DBA) has organised a demonstration on Monday to protest the eviction of residents for the redevelopment project. Baburao Mane, president of DBA, said residents had been promised key-to-key rehabilitation but are now being asked to temporarily shift out of Dharavi.
Survey Controversy
Mane alleged that the survey carried out by the Dharavi Redevelopment Project/Slum Rehabilitation Authority has deemed a large number of residents ineligible for free housing. He added that local MP Anil Desai of the Shiv Sena (UBT) will also participate in the morcha.
Protest Route
The demonstrators will take a morcha to the office of Adani Realty, the lead developer for the project. The protest highlights growing discontent over the redevelopment process.
