AMMK Leader Dhinakaran Accuses DMK Minister Nehru of Corruption in Trichy Rally
Dhinakaran Slams DMK Minister Nehru for Corruption in Trichy

AMMK Founder Dhinakaran Levels Corruption Allegations Against DMK Minister in Trichy Rally

In a fiery address at a political rally in Trichy West on Saturday, AMMK founder T T V Dhinakaran launched a scathing attack on DMK minister K N Nehru, accusing him of widespread corruption. Dhinakaran, who was campaigning in support of AMMK candidate Rajasekaran contesting against Nehru, claimed that the minister, once renowned for his organizational prowess, has now gained notoriety for corrupt practices.

Allegations of Financial Misconduct and Government Inaction

Dhinakaran asserted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has uncovered corruption amounting to ₹2,300 crore within Nehru's department. He alleged that despite the ED's directive for the Tamil Nadu government to take action, Chief Minister M K Stalin has failed to intervene, suggesting a lack of political will to address the issue. "The enforcement directorate has recently found corruption to the tune of 2,300 crore in his department. The ED has asked the Tamil Nadu govt to take action, but the chief minister will not act," Dhinakaran stated during his speech.

Broader Accusations Against DMK and References to National Politics

Expanding his critique, Dhinakaran referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing a parallel between corruption in Tamil Nadu and natural phenomena. "As Modi said, all rivers eventually merge with the sea; likewise, all corruption money in Tamil Nadu goes to one family in Chennai," he remarked, implying centralized corruption within the ruling party. He also cited a leaked audio clip featuring minister P T R Palanivel Thiagarajan to bolster his claims of misconduct.

Dhinakaran further accused the DMK government of failing to deliver on its election promises and implement welfare schemes effectively. "Whenever the DMK comes to power, there is scientific corruption," he alleged, highlighting a pattern of alleged malpractice. Additionally, he dismissed the DMK's narrative that the BJP is against minorities, pointing to the BJP's electoral successes in states like Uttar Pradesh with support from Muslim voters as evidence to the contrary.

Historical Context and Regional Political Dynamics

Earlier in the day, while campaigning in Thanjavur, Dhinakaran challenged the DMK's assertion that the Delta region is its stronghold. He argued that historically, this area has been a bastion for J Jayalalithaa, the former chief minister and AIADMK leader. "Historically, this has been J Jayalalithaa's stronghold. We may have lost ground temporarily, but people must reaffirm it," he urged, calling for a revival of support for his political faction.

The rally in Trichy West underscores the intense political rivalry in Tamil Nadu ahead of upcoming elections, with corruption allegations taking center stage. Dhinakaran's comments reflect ongoing tensions between opposition groups and the ruling DMK, as parties vie for voter trust and regional dominance.
