DMK Hits Out at Congress Over TNCC Decision on Vijay's Support Request
DMK Slams Congress Over TNCC Call on Vijay Support

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has strongly criticized the Indian National Congress over reports of post-election discussions with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai stated that the Congress party's victory in five seats during the recent elections was made possible only because of the DMK's unwavering support. He further reminded the Congress of the past backing extended by Chief Minister MK Stalin to Rahul Gandhi during times of political adversity.

This reaction came after Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal revealed that TVK chief Vijay had approached the Congress party seeking support to form a government in Tamil Nadu. Venugopal added that the Congress views the electoral mandate as one favoring a secular government and has directed the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) to make a final decision on Vijay's request based on the election results.

The DMK's sharp response underscores the growing tensions between the two allies, as the Congress appears to be weighing its options in the post-poll scenario. The DMK's statement serves as a reminder of its pivotal role in the Congress's electoral success and its expectation of reciprocal loyalty. The situation remains fluid, with the TNCC now tasked with determining the party's next move regarding the TVK's overture.
