Close Contest

TVK candidate K.M. Shariff ran a strong race, finishing second with 64,958 votes. The contest remained tight throughout the counting process, with the lead changing hands multiple times before Muthuraja ultimately prevailed.

Other Candidates

BJP's N Ramachandran ended a distant third with 41,089 votes, failing to mount a serious challenge to the top two contenders. The result underscores the intense competition between DMK and TVK in the region.
