Chandigarh: Following the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) searches at multiple locations in Punjab and Chandigarh on Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the central agency's operation had "nothing to do with us."
CM's Response to ED Raids
Replying to a question while addressing the media in Amritsar, Mann said, "The ED raid has nothing to do with us. They (ED) have come here in connection with some company. They can check anywhere."
Anti-Sacrilege Law Enacted
Meanwhile, Mann highlighted that the passage of the Jaagat Jot Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026 is being widely appreciated, as the stricter law will act as a deterrent against incidents of religious sacrilege. Mann was in Amritsar as part of the 'Shukrana Yatra' launched on May 6 to express gratitude for the successful enactment of the amendment. The anti-sacrilege law aims to ensure harsher punishments for acts of religious desecration.
Starting from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib, the Yatra involves Mann visiting major religious sites to offer prayers and engage with the public.
