AIADMK Leader EPS Launches Scathing Attack on DMK, Defends BJP's Delimitation Move
In a fiery election rally held in Omalur, Salem, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami launched a vehement counterattack against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin. EPS accused the DMK of betraying the state and its people, directly challenging Stalin's allegations that the BJP-led Union government has been unfaithful to Tamil Nadu.
Historical Betrayals Alleged Against DMK
Edappadi K Palaniswami presented a series of historical instances to bolster his claims of DMK's betrayal. He recalled that when the late G K Moopanar, founder of the Tamil Maanila Congress, had a genuine opportunity to become Prime Minister of India, it was DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi who allegedly sabotaged that chance. "This is a clear example of how DMK has historically undermined Tamil leadership at the national level," EPS asserted.
Furthermore, Palaniswami highlighted two significant episodes involving Tamil candidates for high constitutional offices. "The DMK refused to extend its support to the late President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam when he was the frontrunner for a second term in office," he stated. "Even when C P Radhakrishnan contested in the election for the Vice President of India, the DMK openly opposed him." EPS pointedly questioned, "Isn't C P Radhakrishnan a Tamil? This reveals the hypocrisy in Stalin's statements about Tamil welfare."
Defending BJP's Delimitation Bill
EPS strongly defended the BJP government's decision to table the delimitation bill, dismissing Chief Minister Stalin's black-shirt protest as a calculated attempt to mislead the public with what he termed "slander and falsehoods." He referenced Union Home Minister Amit Shah's specific assurance that Tamil Nadu's political representation would actually increase marginally from 7.18% to 7.23% following the delimitation exercise.
Palaniswami framed the upcoming electoral battle as a fundamental choice between "AIADMK's unwavering commitment to Tamil pride and self-respect" versus "DMK's entrenched culture of corruption and repeated betrayal of Tamil interests." He emphasized that the AIADMK stands firmly with the people of Tamil Nadu in safeguarding their political relevance and future opportunities.
Welfare Promises and Election Pledges
The AIADMK leader outlined an ambitious package of welfare measures that his party promises to implement if voted back to power in Tamil Nadu. These commitments include providing free refrigerators to eligible households, distributing silk sarees to women beneficiaries, offering substantial subsidies for auto-rickshaw drivers, and constructing concrete houses for economically disadvantaged families.
Additionally, EPS pledged to launch a comprehensive crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse across the state, while simultaneously rolling back what he described as "crippling and burdensome taxes" imposed by the current DMK administration. He positioned these promises as part of AIADMK's broader vision for holistic development and social justice.
Personal Appeal to Salem Voters
Concluding his address with a deeply personal note, Edappadi K Palaniswami reminded the audience of his local roots. "This is our beloved district of Salem. I consider myself one of your own family members," he emotionally stated. "Unlike Chief Minister Stalin, my doors are always open to you. You can meet me anytime to share your concerns and aspirations."
He made a direct appeal for electoral support, urging voters to "wholeheartedly back the NDA candidates by voting for the iconic two leaves symbol of the AIADMK." This call to action underscored the critical importance of the alliance in the forthcoming elections, positioning the AIADMK-NDA combine as the true guardian of Tamil Nadu's interests and future prosperity.
