Ex-CPM MLA meets BJP leaders, denies joining party

Kolkata: Former CPM MLA Tanmay Bhattacharya visited the BJP state headquarters at Salt Lake on Friday to meet Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya. However, with Samik absent, the former MLA held a meeting with Bengal BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar instead.

Meeting Details

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Tanmay Bhattacharya clarified his purpose. "I came here to seek security for a CPM neta. He used to get state security earlier but it was withdrawn. I have no intention of switching sides," he said.

The former MLA's visit sparked speculation about a possible political shift, but his statement aimed to dispel such rumors. The meeting lasted for about an hour, during which the security issue was discussed in detail.
