Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Dharmadam legislator, K K Narayanan, passed away on Tuesday. He was 77 years old. The veteran leader breathed his last at a private hospital in Kannur.
Sudden Collapse at School Event
K K Narayanan was admitted to the hospital in the morning after he suddenly collapsed. The incident occurred while he was attending an event at Peralassery School in Kannur. Despite medical attention, he could not be revived.
Final Journey and Public Homage
The body of the departed leader will be kept at Peralassery School for the public to pay their last respects. This will be from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Following this, the mortal remains will be taken to the CPM Edakkadu area committee office and then to the party's district committee office. Here, fellow party leaders and workers will pay their homage to the stalwart Communist leader.
His funeral is scheduled to be held at Payyambalam Beach in the evening, concluding his final journey.
A Stalwart's Political Legacy
K K Narayanan had a long and distinguished career in public service and party work. He represented the Dharmadam assembly constituency from 2011 to 2016. This constituency is notably the home constituency of Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan.
His service extended to local governance as well, where he served as the president of the Kannur district panchayat from 2005 to 2010. He also held significant positions in key institutions, including the presidency of AKG Hospital in Kannur and the Kannur District Cooperative Bank.
Within the party structure, he was a dedicated member of the CPM Kannur district secretariat for a considerable period, shaping the party's direction in the region.
The passing of K K Narayanan marks the end of an era for the CPM in Kannur, leaving behind a legacy of committed political and social work.
