Ex-Minister Satish Pal Booked for Assault in Kanpur Land Scam

In a shocking incident from Kanpur, former state minister in the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government, Satish Pal, along with his associates, has been formally charged by the police. The case stems from a serious complaint filed by three individuals from Etawah, who allege they were illegally confined, brutally assaulted, and threatened by the political figure.

The Allegations: A Land Deal Turns Violent

The core of the dispute revolves around a fraudulent land transaction. According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Barra police station, the victims—Atul Gupta from Friends Colony, Etawah, Kamlesh Babu from Itgaon, and Manoj Kumar from Chaugan—had paid Pal a sum of Rs 45 lakh for the purchase of six bighas of land located in Jhinjhak, Kanpur Dehat.

Subsequently, the buyers discovered that the property's title was contested and embroiled in a legal dispute. Upon this revelation, they approached Satish Pal and demanded a refund of their money. Initially, the former minister assured them that he would leverage his influence to settle the land issue. However, when no progress was made, the trio pressed for their money back.

A Treacherous Invitation Leads to Captivity and Assault

The situation escalated violently on Sunday. Police reports state that Satish Pal invited the three men to his residence in Chhedi Singh ka Purwa, Barra, under the pretext of returning their payment. Once the victims entered the house, the scenario turned grim.

The FIR alleges that Pal, along with individuals named Dinkar Pal, Ramnaresh, and others, locked the doors, trapping the visitors. The complainants claim they were then subjected to a severe beating. The assailants reportedly used sticks, iron rods, and other sharp-edged weapons to assault them. Adding to their ordeal, their mobile phones were smashed to prevent them from calling for help, and they were threatened with death if they dared to approach the police.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

After managing to escape and report the crime, the victims underwent a medical examination. Following this, the authorities took formal action. DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary confirmed that an FIR has been lodged based on the complaint and the medical evidence. He stated that a thorough investigation into the matter is currently in progress.

The case has sent ripples through the local political and social circles, highlighting serious allegations of fraud and violence against a former public representative. The police are now tasked with unraveling the complete sequence of events and ensuring justice is served.
