Former YSRCP MLA Bolla Brahma Naidu was arrested in Tamil Nadu on Thursday in connection with an alleged land scam. The arrest follows a complaint filed by victims who claimed they were defrauded in a land registration deal.
Details of the Case
According to police sources, Naidu was taken into custody from a location in Tamil Nadu after a warrant was issued by a court in Andhra Pradesh. The case involves allegations that Naidu and his associates promised to register agricultural land to multiple buyers but failed to do so after taking money.
Gopireddy, a complainant, explained that when the promised land registration failed to materialize despite repeated follow-ups, suspicions arose and the matter was brought to the attention of government authorities. An investigation was launched, leading to the arrest.
Political Reactions
The arrest has sparked political reactions in Andhra Pradesh. YSRCP leaders have claimed that the case is politically motivated, while opposition parties have demanded a thorough investigation. Naidu is expected to be produced before a court in Andhra Pradesh for further proceedings.
The land scam is believed to involve several victims who had paid significant sums for land that was never registered in their names. Authorities are probing the extent of the fraud and whether other individuals were involved.
