Chennai: Former ministers, MPs and MLAs from AIADMK, BJP and several other parties joined the ruling party on Saturday as the exodus towards TVK continues.
The day witnessed three-time MLA and former BJP functionary S Vijayadharani, along with her supporters, arriving at TVK’s Panaiyur headquarters. Shortly after that, former AIADMK minister K T Pachaimmal, former MPs R Vanaroja, N Balaganga and A Elarasan, former MLA Su Ravi, and former Tirunelveli mayor E Bhuvaneswari gathered in front of the TVK office to be inducted into the party. They also brought their supporters to exhibit political prowess.
They were among 37 functionaries of various political parties inducted into the party in the presence of party general secretary and minister for rural development N Anand, according to information from TVK.
A former Congress functionary, Vijayadharani represented the Vilavancode constituency for three consecutive terms in 2011, 2016 and 2021. She resigned as MLA in February 2024, citing a lack of recognition for her seniority and work in the party. She later joined the BJP at the party headquarters in New Delhi and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
After over two years in the BJP without a major position or responsibility, Vijayadharani quit the party to join Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s TVK, opening a new chapter in her political career. On the occasion, she praised Vijay, stating that he would soon emerge as a national-level leader.
