Maharashtra Chief Minister Pledges Full Protection for Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar
In a significant development from Pune, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed growing concerns on Saturday by firmly stating that adequate security measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar. This announcement comes in response to reports that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is currently probing the high-profile astrologer Ashok Kharat case, has received a letter indicating a potential threat to Pawar's life.
Fadnavis Expresses Confidence in Maharashtra Police
While interacting with reporters in Purandar, Fadnavis emphasized the strong track record of the Maharashtra police in handling such sensitive matters. He assured the public that while the police will thoroughly investigate the details and authenticity of the threatening letter, necessary security arrangements for Sunetra Vahini will be guaranteed without delay. "We will take utmost care of her," Fadnavis declared, underscoring the government's commitment to protecting its senior leaders.
Cabinet Minister Advises Extra Caution
Echoing the chief minister's concerns, Cabinet Minister Sanjay Shirsat offered advice to Sunetra Pawar, urging her to exercise heightened vigilance in light of the situation. Shirsat highlighted the unique challenges faced by women in prominent political positions, stating, "When a woman reaches an important post in politics, she inevitably has to confront certain obstacles. Therefore, as the SIT conducts its investigation into this letter, Sunetra Vahini should remain particularly careful."
The incident has drawn attention to the broader issues of security for public figures in Maharashtra, especially amidst ongoing investigations like the Ashok Kharat case. Authorities are expected to ramp up protective measures around Deputy Chief Minister Pawar, with the police likely to enhance surveillance and personal security details. This proactive stance aims to prevent any potential risks and maintain public confidence in the state's law enforcement capabilities.
