Maharashtra CM Issues Stern Warning Over Kumbh Mela Infrastructure Delays
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken serious cognizance of unwarranted delays affecting critical infrastructure projects for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. During a high-level meeting in Mumbai on Friday, Fadnavis issued a clear warning that any vested attempts to hinder progress would face strict consequences.
Massive Funding Approval and Traffic Solutions
Chairing the meeting of the Kumbh Mela apex body, the chief minister assessed ongoing projects and approved several additional works. This decision has escalated the total sanctioned amount to a substantial Rs 22,181 crore, reflecting the government's commitment to ensuring the mega event's success.
Fadnavis specifically directed officials to devise comprehensive measures to ease traffic congestion across Nashik city. Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of the Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority, revealed that the CM focused on the crucial stretch between Dwarka and Nashik Road on the Nashik-Pune National Highway.
"The CM instructed officials to examine the feasibility of constructing vehicular underpasses at key intersections," Singh stated. "This innovative approach would allow Pune-bound traffic to utilize underpasses while local commuters navigate via overbridges, potentially revolutionizing traffic flow."
Critical Infrastructure Focus and Joint Execution
The Nashik Municipal Corporation and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will jointly execute works on this vital 6-kilometer stretch, which includes multiple bottleneck points:
- Kathe Galli
- Bodhale Nagar
- Upanagar Naka
- Datta Mandir
A senior officer present at the meeting disclosed that Fadnavis expressed significant concern over reports of unnecessary delays in ongoing projects. "The CM warned that such disruptions would face strict action," the officer said. "All works must be completed on time without compromising quality standards."

Fadnavis established clear protocols for stakeholders with objections, advising them to approach the appropriate regulator through proper channels. However, he delivered a firm message regarding deliberate obstruction.
