Farmer shot dead while asleep in Madhubani, three held

Madhubani: A 50-year-old farmer was shot dead while asleep at Salemapur village under the Bisfi police station area in Madhubani district late Sunday night.

Incident Details

The deceased, Ramvinod Yadav alias Kari Yadav, was sleeping on the verandah of his house when three unidentified criminals arrived on a motorcycle around 1 am and shot him in the chest, police said.

His wife, who was sleeping beside him, tried to stop the assailants and scuffled with them, but they pushed her aside and fled.

Victim's Family Response

Hearing the gunshot, the victim's sons rushed to the spot and took him to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where he died on the way.

Ramvinod's son, Pappu Yadav, alleged the murder was linked to a liquor mafia dispute after police recently seized illicit liquor in the area.

Police Investigation

Police teams and forensic experts visited the crime scene and collected evidence. DSP Amit Kumar said three persons had been detained for questioning in connection with the case.
